DCist has a nice summary of the history of the bill introduced in 2011 that would force food trucks to start charging sales tax, instead of paying vending fees. The problem last year was that DC was dragging its feet on updating the vending regulations. So, it appears that now that the updated vending regulations are nearing approval, the DC Council will also move forward with
making the DC food trucks pay taxes making the food trucks charge customers sales tax.
This all starts happening tomorrow (March 1st). Tomorrow is also the last day to submit your comments on DC food truck regulations!
