It doesn’t turn your driod phone into an active radar, so no worries about draining your batteries. 🙂 But, the new radar view does allow you to locate food trucks around you, as if your phone were a radar, and is easier than trying to figure out where you are on a map. Just make sure you have a GPS lock and all of the food truck icons will appear. Hold your phone in front of you and turn left or right and see the icons rotate; the icons that are in front of the center arrow are the ones you are walking towards. The truck icons that are closer to the center arrow are closer to you (under a 5 minute walk) and the ones that are closer to the outside of the compass circle are a 10 or 15 minute walk. The icons that line the outer border of the compass are greater than a 15 minute walk away.
In addition to the radar view, you now have a list view. And something that you won’t appreciate until the 2nd time you open the app is that I’ve improved the performance of the app so that it will download less data each time. The cell data networks seem to slow way down during lunch time, right when most FTF app fans are firing up the app! I’m excited to hear feedback on how the app performs with these new enhancements.
I still have a few more enhancements coming in the next version 2.1, which should come out faster than this last update: 1) News tab, 2) linking in menus and FTF reviews.
As always, thank you all for your support with the development of the app! 🙂 Here is a direct link to the app, and the upgrade is free for existing app users!
