Ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Platter. It comes with two scoops of sticky rice, salad, and cubed chicken with Teriyaki sauce. The rice is nothing special, just white rice. The salad had a nice dressing on it. What was a bit disappointing was the chicken. Slightly overcooked chicken breast (i.e. flavorless) grilled (which is good) and basted with sugary sweet teriyaki sauce. Sorry Hula Girl, this is not particularly innovative. We have fought long and hard as a city to get decent food trucks, and this is the best you can do? How about marinating your chicken in something? Toning down the sugar/honey/whatever in the sauce? Jazzing up the rice? Including dark meat which actually has flavor? If this is the real deal from Hawaii or wherever, then fine, don't want to be the cultural spoiler here, but for $12, it should be a little bit more special in my view

Had to wait in a really long line, but the wait was worth it! Service was really pleasant and the food was fantastic! Ordered the mixed plate since it was my first time. Everything was delicious! I think the beef is my favorite, but the pork and chicken were tender and well seasoned. Enough food for at least 2 lunches!!!

The salad is fantastic. The chicken is a real chicken breast like you would cook in your backyard. The salad has so many different flavors going on.

This place is consistently fantastic. The lines are always long but totally worth the wait. The steak plate is fantastic and they give you a LOT. Usually lasts me 2 days. The mac salad is fantastic also, and they get bonus points for bringing back memories from my childhood with Hawaiian Punch. This might be my favorite truck.

I've been going to a different truck every other day for about four months, and this might be the best one I've gone to. It definitely smelled the best—the sidewalk just reeked of deliciousness. Mac salad was maybe a little bit of overkill (consider the tossed, especially for the health conscious) but the teriyaki steak was among the best I've had. Only grip? I'd love side cups for the siracha sauce (offered) as the dish is entirely sweet, and I enjoyed adding some spice. It's a really big meal, and I actually thought there was TOO MUCH meat relative to the sides—a nice change of pace.

Excellent bang for the buck. I always get the mixed plate, but the pork & cabbage is my favorite portion. The chicken and beef are great as well, which is why I keep getting the mixed plate. I always feel like if I just get one meat I'm missing out on the other two. Great food at a great price!

What Did You Order?: Teryaki chicken plate

Hula Girl isn't awful but it wasn't the best food I've ever had. I wanted a Teryaki chicken sandwich but they ran out of rolls right when I got to the head of the line (which took 20 min). So I got stuck with chicken and rice for lunch. Not terrible. Just basic grilled chicken and white rice. The macaroni salad was a little gross. I'm not sure I'd go back. I get that they were busy, but it wasn't really worth the wait.

Awesome! Mixed plate has so much food on it you could easily feed two people. Macaroni salad was really good and they are friendly.

What Did You Order?: Teriyaki Steak Plate Lunch

Everything about the Teriyaki Steak is wonderful. The portion is huge, the rice is sticky (that's good), and the teriyaki is so good, you won't need soy sauce. The chicken and pork are also very good, but for my money, get the steak.

4.4 5.0 20 20 This is one of my top 3 trucks and wish it came to Gallery Place, but I have walked to LeFant to enjoy. I ate there on Wed. 12/4/13 when they were parked at metro center. Overall Hula Girl Truck Food Truck
