We all know that DC food trucks are still operating under the 30 year old ice cream truck regulations. And, we all know that those regulations need to be updated. The good news is that there is actually a set of new, unpublished DC food truck regulations sitting on Mayor Vincent Gray’s desk right now!
The bad news? The unpublished regulations have been sitting on Mayor Gray’s desk for over three months. While the regulations languish, the Restaurant Association and other anti-food truck groups are lobbying the Mayor to make food trucks illegal.
So, what we need to do is to get Mayor Gray to release those regulations to the public so that the citizens of this city can comment publicly and start the process to make DC a friendly city for food trucks.
To that end, I’ve setup a Change.org petition to ask Mayor Gray to act to protect food trucks. Will you sign it? 🙂

Have the regulations been modified at all (there were some provisions that were vague like having to be outside of a certain distance of brick and mortar establishments serving the “same” food)or is the version sitting on his desk the same version that was on the DCRA website last year?
Hi MAGGIEESQ, as I understand it, these regulations are completely new. Though, I don’t have any specific details to share because I haven’t seen them yet. Hopefully, Mayor Gray will release them to the public as a result of this petition.
