When the Prince of Petworth reported yesterday that emergency legislation to ban food trucks was being discussed at DC’s Wilson building, the DC food truck scene experienced a concerted eruption of anger and letter writing to council members. From the comments of the post and various tweets, I put together the following picture: a dozen or so lobbyists representing the restaurant association, building owners and [old school hot dog & chips] vending depots converged on the Wilson building in a sort of sneak-attack to try to put emergency legislation on the DC Council’s table to ban food trucks from operating in DC.  Tommy Wells tweeted this morning that no such legislation is on the table for today.

So, it appears that DC citizens and food truck fans have survived another broadside attack from those who are acting against the documented wishes of DC citizens and trying to stifle culinary innovation.

The DC food truck operators have setup a website to help you write a letter to the DC council to ensure that these kinds of threats to the DC food truck world don’t happen again in the future.
