Our friends at ARLnow have a comprehensive report on how Arlington police, responding to complaints form brick and mortar restaurants, have begun to enforce a 1 hour parking rule for food trucks.  This rule was put into place in 2010, just as food trucks were making their way into Arlington, but had been unenforced until just the past few weeks.  Many FTF readers in Arlington have been reporting in that food trucks have recently stopped visiting many popular spots along Wilson Blvd.

As many fans know, food trucks cannot just move spots every hour because it takes a lot of time to start up the on-board kitchen and get ready to serve customers (including starting the generator, getting heating surfaces up to temperature, and unpacking food supplies, which must all be shut down before moving he vehicle).  The 1 hour rule conveniently makes it impossible for a food truck to operate in Arlington during the usual 11:30am – 2pm lunch window.

ARLnow linked to photo that Willie’s Po’ Boy posted informing Arlington customers that they can voice their concerns over the food truck crackdown by emailing countyboard@arlingtonva.us or by calling 703-228-3130.
