This is one of my top 3 trucks and wish it came to Gallery Place, but I have walked to LeFant to enjoy. I ate there on Wed. 12/4/13 when they were parked at metro center. Overall lunch was great, but the pork was way way too salty. Needs more flavor and less salt. Thanks and will return.

3.5 stars really, but it is such a nice day I'll go with 4. This was my first try with Hula Girl because I'd always see lines and wonder what's the fuss. Still wondering. The food wasn't bad. It was fine, but not standing in a long line fine.
The grilled chicken was in big chunks and most of it was tender. The sauce wasn't overpowering, nor too horribly sweet. Just enough rice to balance it out. Slaw was nice. The mayo mac was okay. The food came quick enough after ordering and I was glad the truck took cards. Yet the food did not give me an earth shattering experience.
I might try them again if the line isn't long and try a sandwich.

This is one of my favorite trucks, but the last few times I was there, the food has not been as good. I always get the mixed plate and share it with a co-worker. The chicken and beef were dry, and the kalua pig needed a bit more salt. I will give it a few more visits before I move on to another truck.
This truck appears to be a cut above the rest. I will add it to my reserve list of trucks to frequent, at the moment that is only three or four. Wit
This truck appears to be a cut above the rest. I will add it to my reserve list of trucks to frequent, at the moment that is only three or four. With all trucks, there are good days and not their best day, today was not their best but with that said I will still return, that should convey how much they are on the right track.
The pork was hands down the best! The steak and chicken were on the grill too long as both were too dry and all juices had been long cooked out that might add any flavor. But, again, the pork in itself is the specialty of the truck based on today's experience. I have a feeling from reading the other reviews today may have just been an off day for the chicken and the steak. Maybe cooks have been changed or because they were at Farragut they mass prepared ahead of time and then in the re-warming dried everything out?
The portion is HUGE, will try just pork and cabbage plate next time to see if this is a little smaller portion.
Again, will repeat, worth the wait for the pork alone, add some of the pepper sauce to give a little extra kick!

I really wanted to like this truck, the flavors were good, unfortunately the steak was a little over done but still tender; however the chicken was very over done and dry. I need more sauce and less time on the grill and I would have been pleased. The pork was amazing tho!

Oh---Emmmm-Geee! The salad was so good! It had so many different flavors going on--from tangy to sweet. The chicken was nice and moist and very flavorful and I must add that there is a lot of nice tasty chunks of chicken breast. (Usually there is more salad than there is chicken.) Like the other reviewers have mentioned. You get alot of bang for your buck!

I waited for about 25 minutes before I got my food and I would do it again in a SECOND! The truck has a long line for a reason. The food was fantastic. The chicken wasn't overcooked. The steak was perfect and the pork was so moist and juicy. The haupia was ok. I didn't have any nuts on mine which was a disappointment.
This is succulent pork! reminds me of the BBQ I had on north shore Hawaii!

Wow, what a meal. Do not order the platter unless there are at least two of you! My daughter came over from the Hill and we shared this great meal.
Wow, what a meal. Do not order the platter unless there are at least two of you! My daughter came over from the Hill and we shared this great meal. The pulled pork , teriyaki steak and chicken were delicious. Rice was just like we had in Hawaii. The dessert was good but thought a few more nuts would have been better. But by them I I was stuffed and could barely move. Hope they add coconut shrimp one day.Eating the spam later after my nap. :-)Everyone was super friendly even in the rain.

I have to say that was probably the best tasting food I have had since coming to DC. I loved the sauce for the salad, the tenderness of the pork, just everything was amazing. I like that they take your name when you order, it makes the experience more personal. I also have to say you have great customers as well. This was my first time trying your food and the customer in front of us was telling my coworker and I about how good the salad was and to make sure to try the sauce. I will definitely be making your truck a regular lunchtime stop.
Hula Girl brings the Aloha spirit to the DC area in a tricked out woody truck serving grilled Hawaiian teriyaki, plate lunches, salads and sandwiches. They launched on July 27, 2011 in Franklin Square park.
