So, first food truck review I feel I need to post. Went to this truck around 12:15pm on 12/19/2014 on Mass ave. I got all my sides, but no protein. I had my rice, cabbage, chickpeas and side salad in the container. The rice was scooped as if chicken was supposed to go on top but, there was no chicken. I checked under everything and no protein. I should have checked the contents before I left the truck, so partially that is on me. There were only 2 customers ahead of me when I walked up.

The kicker is, the sides are very tasty, but I'm not a vegetarian by any means. If you are wondering why I didn't just take the food back, the truck is about 7 to 10 minutes away from my building. Already was out about 20 minutes getting the food so no time. I am going to see if I can talk to them on twitter and see what happens.

What Did You Order?: Veggie combo- spicy lentils, cabbage, and mushrooms-spinach-potato dish •

How Much Did It Cost?: $10

All three vegetarian items I ordered were fabulous! I eat a lot of Ethiopian food, and this was definitely up there, especially the lentils and the spinach dish which I had never had before. Also the pricing is that the veggie combo is $9 for two veggies then $1 for each additional side, so if you want to tack on collard greens or whatever, it doesn't add much to the bill.

Mimi is so nice and friendly. I love the tasty vegetables and brown rice as they are all freshly home made!

Both the Beef and chicken Tibbs are amazing. They are jammed pack with flavor. The Collard Greens is also very tasty. The thing that ties it all together is their injera. It is cut into exact squares and it is the exact size you need to eat your lunch.

I was quite hesitant to try Ethiopian, but it was really really good. You guys are doing a great job. I hope you will return to Capitol South again

I've seen this truck a couple times before today and like a lot of you who may read this my first thought was "I'm not sure I like Ethiopian food."

I've seen this truck a couple times before today and like a lot of you who may read this my first thought was "I'm not sure I like Ethiopian food."
Since there is really only one way to find out if you like something or not I walked up to the window and ordered Chicken Tibs (boneless chicken breast with onions and peppers in seasoning), Chick Peas and Rice (gluten free option). Told the ladies in the truck I've never had Ethiopian food before and the cook leaned out and told me I should try the spicy lentils. She said "they are excellent today and will go well with the chicken."
When the cook tells you something is particularly good, it's usually a good idea to go with it. The Spicy Lentils were fantastic. I was worried the dish might be too spicy for me, but it really was not hotter than most "medium" buffalo wings.
The food was great, the chicken tender and well spiced, the lentils gave a nice slow heat throughout the meal and the rice pretty good as well (it's rice, hard to say anything original about it unless it was bad). I'm glad I went today and will definitely go back again.

I've just started visiting the food trucks near the portrait gallery. Today I was looking for something healthy and decided to try Meski. I'm a fan of Ethiopian food and this was excellent! The food was clean, well prepared and delicious. The two women that run the truck were genuinely nice as well. Highly recommend!
