Check your order!! My food was ready pretty quickly. I walked back to my office and noticed I had the wrong order. Walked all the way back to the truck, and they said they mixed up the order and had my correct order already on the truck. It was obvious that it had been sitting. When I asked about it, I was told someone else just so happened to order the exact thing I did, and they would just give me their order!!!!
All in all, by that time, I was ready to get back to the office, so I accepted that answer. The food is good, but check your order before you leave!

Being a Philly native, I usually wouldn't bother with a cheesesteak in DC, but the $5 I-want-this-week-to-be-over special was enough to draw me in. When the guy taking orders told me they use Amoroso rolls, I decided it was worth a go. Unfortunately, said roll was dripping with liquid by the time I got to my office, which made the total experience pretty disappointing. I didn't even notice whether I actually got cheese on my steak.
All told, I probably won't go back, which is a shame, because the people running the truck were nice and friendly. My order was ready pretty quickly, too.

Food is good what I ordered that is why I keep coming back. My problem is the soggy bread. Come on Guys, the bread is just as important as what is in it. I am really tierd of the watery tasting bread, that ends up a soggy mess. I did not get tomatoes I do not understand why the bread is soggy by the time I go from the truck to my desk to eat. Less than6 minutes. If it were not for the bread I would have given you a five star rating but because of the bread I got to give you a 2.

As a philly native I understand what a good cheesesteak is. The bread is pretty good, but I give them a pass because it is nearly impossible to find any good bread south of the mason-dixon. I actually prefer the half-baked bread from Philly, similar to what Taylor Gourmet uses.
Second, I am not sure why they are charging $13 for a cheesesteak? That is pretty much double what you pay back home for the REAL THING.
Meat was alright. Not sure if they are using rib-eye or not.
If this was a $8-$9 sandwich I would probably give 3 stars out of 5. $13 is nuts.
Top 5 Philly Steaks

I usually don't post reviews, I just lurk this site and go to all the ones you guys like... But this Cheesesteak was SLAMMING... So good, I went back to grab one for my secretary. Cooked to order, quickly... Oh, and I had fries. The 12" comes in two separate 6" subs which is perfect for saving one for dinner. I guess it could be cheaper, but then it may not be as good. PLEASE make this a staple at Franklin Sq... In a world of Bulgogi, Kimchi, Empanadas, and Kabobs sometimes it's nice to have an old fashioned American classic... And this is the best one in town!

OK...this morning coming to work I noticed the truck on First Street, NE and said to myself I would go for lunch because it was closer to my job and I wanted to try this one. I went to put in the order it was written down and because we wanted after it was written and not really explained, the one side without mayo and two more items on the other, the gentlemen tossed it on the counter and said it was to much to basically not accommodate and if it wasn't all the same they couldn't fix it. Now I was the only one in line almost 12noon. He was rude and even the guy fixing the sandwichs just tossed my ticket. I left.

After strategially viewing online all food trucks on 12th street, and looking at reviews, I decided to try this truck. Some food trucks sound promising, but do not deliver--they did. I have to say it was a pretty good cheesesteak. I was not dissapointed in the least bit. The smell wafting from the bag while I rode the elevator was marvelous. I honestly enjoyed my sandwich. The bread was very tasty, flavored by the beef drippings and the meat was very flavorful and they didn't skimp on it either. I didn't put all those extras on it--just cheesteak, onions and hot peppers. The staff was very professional and I waited maybe 3 minutes for my food. I will definately return to this truck again.
Phillies Phamous DC food truck serves authentic Philadelphia Cheesesteaks on top of Amoroso Rolls from Philadelphia. They serve in the District. They opened on or about April 19, 2012.
